Cinema and historiography in Palestine: a narrative silenced?

Author: Paula Fernández Franco*

The autochthonous narrative of contemporary history of Palestine is divided, in general terms, between a dominant Zionist narrative and a Palestinian narrative struggling to be heard. This paper analyzes the evolution of the Palestinian historical narrative through historiography and cinema. The authors propose: a joint periodization in five stages.  Two distinct cases are analyzed to establish a methodology which could be effective to undertake an expansive investigation.

Keywords: Historiography, historical narrative, cinema, Palestine, contemporary history.
